Five Steps to a Clean Closet and Your Night Owl T-Shirt Quilt

When you decide to tell your story with a Night Owl best t-shirt quilts, gathering all of your quilt-worthy shirts may seem daunting. You must include each and every t-shirt you want to be added to your quilt when you ship your collection to us. Our quilt artists use the graphics from each of your t-shirts to guide in your quilt’s design. That makes it hard, if not impossible, to add t-shirts to your Night Owl T-Shirt Quilt after it’s completed. Don’t worry – follow these five steps, and you’ll have neat drawers, a clean closet, and your very own Night Owl T-Shirt Quilt before you know it!

  1. Make a Plan: The trick to corralling all your best t-shirt quilts is to get organized! Make a list of all the places you keep clothes – especially if you live in an area where the temperatures fluctuate seasonally, and you switch your wardrobe out depending upon the time of year. Be sure to sort through all the closets in your home, dressers and chests, and any bins in storage.

  2. Gather Supplies: If you’re planning on organizing your space as you go through your clothes, you may want to pick up some extra hangers, baskets, and boxes to help you neatly store the clothes and accessories that end up back in your closet after your hunt for favorite t-shirts is complete. You’ll also want to grab three large boxes or baskets that will help you in step three.

  3. Set Up Your Stations: Give yourself enough space to spread out a little bit and set out your three large boxes or baskets that you gathered in step two. One will be where you put any clothing you want to donate, the second will be for any clothing that needs to be thrown away or used as rags, and the third is where your t-shirts for your Night Owl T-Shirt Quilts will go. You can add an additional box if you want to sell some of your used clothes on apps like Poshmark or ThredUp.

  4. Sort Your Clothing: Go through one area at a time. For example, start with one dresser. Dump all of its contents on your bed, and start sorting into your boxes from step three. You can then fold the clothes your keeping and put them back before moving onto the next area. Working in stages makes the process easier. Plus, you get to cross each area you conquer off the list you created in step one – and who doesn’t love to cross items off their to-do list?

  5. Package and Ship Your Stuff: You’ve done it! Every time you open your closet door, you’re wondering why you didn’t do this sooner – and you’ve got a box filled with t-shirts ready to be a part of your Night Owl T-Shirt Quilt. Before you tape up your box, make sure your t-shirts are laundered and mark any graphic you DON’T want to be used in your quilt with blue painter’s tape.
